Co-sourced Internal Audit

Knowing how the underlying business functions is the key to today's risk-driven approach to integrated auditing. Our professionals have the experience required to assess the risks involved and develop and execute a program to audit the effectiveness and efficiency of an entity. We work with clients in a number of capacities, including: providing a variable resource to the client's staff, adding subject matter expertise, benchmarking processes against best practices and executing projects. We assist clients with co-sourcing requirements in:

  • IT audits
  • Operational audits
  • Financial audits
  • Compliance audits
  • Fraud or forensic audits

Royalty, Licensing and Contracts Auditing

All companies have counterparties to contracts. Often, the accurate and timely compliance with contract terms is critical to business success. We have assisted clients in determining whether vendors are adhering to pricing formulas, customers are remitting according to terms for licensing, franchisees are correctly calculating fees and internal calculations regarding contracts are accurate. We can assist with:

  • Royalty and license audits
  • Vendor audits
  • Franchisee audits
  • Contract management and compliance audits

Risk Management

World events from 9/11 to the mortgage crisis have raised the awareness of risk in all areas of business. Companies are responding by taking new and deeper looks at the type of risks present in their environments and at how to mitigate those risks. Whether it resides in the Internal Audit department or a separate area, we can assist by:

  • Designing and executing a risk assessment process
  • Working as Project Managers or team members on an Enterprise Risk Management initiative

Sarbanes Oxley and Other Compliance Initiatives

The cost of compliance in an ever more regulated world is growing larger and larger. The key is ensuring you are gaining synergy in the area of compliance and driving cost out by implementing the most efficient processes possible. In the area of Sarbanes Oxley compliance, we help businesses by:

  • Re-designing processes to leverage new guidance and using a risk-based approach
  • Identifying or designing entity level controls
  • Reducing the cost of on-going testing and documentation

We have also worked with clients on a number of other compliance issues, including J-SOX, BSA, Basel II, HIPAA and Gramm Leach Blilely.

Sample Engagement - Contract Review, Remediation, and Process Improvement: A Fortune 500 integrated energy company engaged us to complete the review of more than 33,000 contract documents.

The three-phase project included:

  • Establishing a joint PMO with the client for program and project management with weekly status reporting against metrics and key deliverables
  • Identification, scoping and definition of production metrics and project timeline development
  • Development of a custom database to manage project coordination
  • Design and development of a comprehensive contract review program
  • Definition, design and testing of custom system requirements used to support the program
  • Design and delivery of a comprehensive training program for client and associate teams

Sample Engagement - Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance: Before a global multi-billion dollar services firm could complete an initial public offering, it had to implement Section 404 of Sarbanes. Under the supervision and direction of the client's Sarbanes team, we served as the primary external service provider, with 26 professionals in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong and Canada to assist client teams with various elements of Sarbanes compliance, including:

  • Documenting existing business processes, practices and workflows
  • Testing selected internal controls within those processes
